New Year resolutions don’t often last beyond the month of January, do they?
But some last the course…
At the start of a new year, the former teacher in me always looks at the things I can learn in the next 12 months.
I’m always looking to find things that are relevant to my business and will help make it more successful in the coming year.
So, here are seven things you can learn about your WordPress website that will help your business to thrive in ‘25!
- Master the content management system and ensure you can add fresh content regularly to help your site rank well. WordPress content management systems are straightforward to use and allow you to upload images and video. Updating your site regularly with new content like blogs helps it to rank well in search engine results.
- Understand how to update your plugins to ensure good security and the best performance. Getting lots of update notifications can feel daunting, can’t it? Out of date plugins are a vulnerability that cyber criminals could exploit to take control of your website or steal important information. Learning how to update those key plugins gives you peace of mind. It also helps your website load speed.
- Get to grips with Yoast SEO to help improve your search engine optimisation and get it found in online searches. You’ll be able to focus in on useful keywords and key phrases and it will help you tweak your content to make it more attractive to search engines.
- Learn Google Analytics to monitor how well your website is doing and see how you could be improving. We improve what we measure, don’t we? Google Analytics gives you data on website visits, page views, clicks through, and downloads. You’ll be able to see the content that’s popular and converts website visitors into paying customers.
- Understand how good website design and a good user experience impacts your potential customers – and learn what you can do to improve yours. After all, great design and user experience is the first step in excellent customer service, isn’t it? Think about appealing content, clear signposting, and strong calls to action.
- Learn how to freshen up your visuals including images, videos, typeface, and your theme. This is something the WordPress system makes easy for you. All you need are to learn some basic instructions and a little practise!
- Understand how to troubleshoot common website problems like slow loading. There are often simple solutions to the most common issues. For example, reducing the size of images and cutting down on the use of JavaScript to help keep your site loading speed fast. That, of course, makes it more attractive to visitors and potential customers.
